There are many opportunities to serve within our mission of prison ministry.  We are involved in programs offered both within the local parish jail and within the community.  Westlake United Methodist Church has provided services for women who are incarcerated and the children they leave behind.

Each year we sponsor children of incarcerated parents to a United Methodist run camp called Grace Camp.  We have provided transportaion, helped with food preparation, collected items needed for camp, donated money and sent volunteers to be on staff.

The church has held fund raisers and the monies were used to purchase eyeglasses and Bibles for the inmates within the jail.

Some volunteers prefer to work behind the scenes, helping with organization, computer and media, accounting/bookkeeping, and donating children’s books.  The need is great, and we all serve according to our gifts to make a difference while ministering to the least of these.
